Okay, so this weekend.

I think I'm getting a cold. I hate colds. They make me really sad.

Yesterday, I saw V for Vendetta, which pretty much owned. Yeah, it was awesome. I heart it muchly.

I actually don't have anything to say. I'm booooored.

Haha, so I had my brother read shoebox. And I taught the two of them the game. Moo ha ha ha ha ha. I'm eeeevil.
latara: (fight club)
Oh man. Bill. Don't take your guns to town!

He never listens.

So since monday a lot happened, I'm pretty sure. There were lots of days.

Actually, I remember nothing until Mock Trial, so let's run with that.

So we really did well, I was all proud of the team. Our crosses were really good, I liked how I did, and Linda was amazing with both her cross and her closing. Yasmin's cross also went lovely, this is a point for later.

Liz kicked some lawyer ass, as always ("I'm sorry that we disagree on the definition of feasible"), and Anna was the bestest Fitzgerald ever.

The judge was strange. She'd act like every objection was really annoying her, or straining her brain or something. Plus, she totally had it in for Michael on the Swope direct. Like, she kept asking him to elaborate his qualifications when she had the curriculum vitae right in front of her. So she ended up just getting the Michael and Jon flustered and then marking them down for it.

The other team... was using a stopwatch, which was illegal, made up a rule about the witnesses talking, and had this awful witness that did this horrible head bob thing. Also, their Boyd tried to play actress with it (which you aren't really supposed to do) and is a really shitty actress.

They won. It was ridculous. The scoring was so off whack, I expected it to be close and it wasn't.

And today, I got a haircut. Yay!

After that I saw Walk the Line with my mom. It was really good. I'm in love with like all the movies I've seen recently. This makes me really happy.
latara: (drusilla)
Yo, yo, I just posted some icons at [livejournal.com profile] iconages. Yup. Old stuff. I needed to make a post.

I have lots to say, but no time to say it.

Julie Bowen = Carol Vesse ALWAYS KTHX.

Gah, I just wanted to check in. I can't think of what to say.

OH!

I saw Brokeback, finally. Aw man. I'm so sad now. Thinking about it makes me SAD. Even though I knew what was going to happen thx to story. But wow, Heath and Jake were SO FUCKING GOOD.

You know, fishing = gay sex is almost as good as chess = sex.
latara: (Noe Venable)
My internet sucks ass.

"I Will Survive" is amazing. In any form. Do not let anyone tell you differently.

I'll guess this'll go in reverse chronological order... there is a lot to cover.

First of all, everyone should see Match Point. It's amazing. It's awesome. Everyone see it immediately. Seriously. Now. Also, Jon Rhys Myers. See? Why aren't you going? But yeah, also, don't let anyone tell you ANYTHING about it. So I'm going to spoiler cut now.

don't click if you haven't seen it! )

But yeah, that was really cool. Also really cool? Yesterday I went to a Tegan and Sara and Cake concert, plus some weird ass gypsies on the bad crack band. But we don't care about them. Let me instead concentrate on how awesome Tegan and Sara and Cake are.

Setlists:

T&S:
Living Room
Speak Slow
Where Does the Good Go?
We Didn't Do It
I Hear Noises
Downtown
When I Get Up
So Jealous
Dancing in the Dark (I love when they do this so much)
This is Everything (I wish they'd do the UFLO arrangement)
Walking With a Ghost
You Wouldn't Like Me

Cake:
Frank Sinatra
Sheep Go to Heaven, Goats go to Hell (this confused Hazel, but she sang anyway because she's awesome)
Ruby Sees All
Wheels
Comfort Eagle
Daria
Love You Madly
Excuse Me, I Think I've Got a Heartache (Buck Owens. I thought they might do Act Naturally, which is the only Buck Owens song I've heard and that's only because of Ringo. And now I really want to watch Help)
Guitar Man
Satan is My Motor
No Phone
Never There
Mexico (it's in three-four time, yup yup)
Going the Distance

Anyway, yeah, it won. And someone threw the top of a pineapple at Cake. And like, why? and where'd they get the pineapple? This will plague me for the rest of my existence. I will look at this entry years from now and say "PINEAPPLE!!!!! WTF?????"

Yeah, two things. One, Cake shirts are all American Apparel. How could I not go for that????

Next thing is clearly the highlight, after the show, Tegan (I'm pretty sure it's Tegan. Um, they are twins.....) was selling shirts, and we met her! And we told her how amazing they are! And it was cool!

...

In order to keep you fully updated on my life, I will now tell you about how I totally failed all my midterms thus far. And how I'm totally going to fail my French midterm.

Ha, it was funny, because I was coming out of my Math midterm (by far the worst), and I was talking to Pedro, and I was like "And I totally failed my English and Psych" and Ms. Rinder comes by and is all, "You only said you failed English because I was walking by!"

Also, I made tons of new friends recently from Friending meeeemes, namely Jessika's. So that's cool. Hi new friends!

Wow, so it's been awhile since I posted. Actually, it's only been since Wednesday night, but a lot of things have happened since wednesday night.

So thanksgiving -
My mom and I went to my dad's house for thanksgiving. It was nice. I ate a lot of food. Twas of the good. My parents had a lot of wine.

Yesterday -
Linda had a party like thing for underclassman bonding and it turned out nicely. People who weren't us came, and we watched Woody Allen movies. It was a lot of fun. Afterwards I went to Jacob's, who also had a bunch of people over, and we did much of the same - cramming far too many people on one couch and watching things. There we watched Echolls' Family Christmas. Because you know what gets you in the christmas mood on black friday? Aaron Echolls being stabbed.

I got home at like, 1:30. W00t.

Eh, I don't feel very talky. Oh well.

I'm about to post my Veronica/Logan mix on [livejournal.com profile] fanmix, most likely.

VM owns my soul. THANKS FOR THE CLIFFHANGER! ARG!

So today was a half day. Thanksgiving day pep rally, which means I had to spend all of two hours in school. Wow, that was pointy. But yeah, then I escaped to the art room, which was LOCKED and DARK and we were cowering inside, fearing our lives.

Anyway, then we left school, unscathed, and went to Harvard Square. We ate at the Vietnamese place, which was good. Then we went to see Pride and Prejudice. It was pretty good, they went far to Wuthering Heights, as LInda said, with the whole thing though.

I feel like more happened! No, I guess it really didn't. We puttered extensively. We went to beadworks and saw the theater folk.

People who were involved:
Linda
Masha
Yasmin
Elizabeth
Jing
Iris
...umm there were probably more.

Anyway, that was lots of fun. I love non school days and things.

Happy Thanksgiving on the very soon to be Thanksgiving.

wheee GoF

Hehe, all my HP icons are shoebox. Heh.

Anyway, so GoF. Was really very good. I cried lots, notably, spoiler cutting for GoF seems weird, but I suppose people don't want to know things about how they did it )

It was funnier than I expected from the previews, although it was scary. blah )

I was kind of not pissed about the pink dress at the yule ball until it was actually in the movie. Still say if something's mentioned you have no excuse, director man. However, I kind of loved Emma Watson in that scene. And the Patils and Ron and Harry were so spot on. It was a pretty funny scene.

Oh, and the slash! the lj cut of GAY! )

One thing I didn't like completely irrationally is all the stuff they cut. But I guess more was going to be cut because it's such a long book. But it makes me worried for OotP because most things in OotP are pretty important.

McGoogles won at life.

The comparison:

I like how both the last two directors (and not Chris Columbus who SUCKED for those movies and I pray he doesn't suck as much for Rent) really fit the moods of the books with the covers. Like Cuaron seemed to take his color scheme like, directly from the cover of the book, and I think Newell did a pretty good job of that. There were some gorgeous shots in this movie.

I think I still like PoA better, because I just died of glee when I watched it. I miss the One Big Artsy Orgy of PoA. However, I squeed almost to the same degree with this one. I'm glad this is the turn the franchise has taken, or else I would regret the movies so much more.

One thing - blah )

I got home at 1:30 this morning/yesterday. I think my mom probably knows that....

YOU KNOW WHAT I WANT? My brother got a Harry Potter catalogue thingy, and it has Lucius's pimp cane. I'm like, dude, PIMP CANE.

So I haven't posted in awhile, because I had to read a book for english and then create notecards on said book and write a paper on said book all in the span of like, three days. Also, I've had a nasty cold.

So not much has gone on that's actually exciting. School is blech.

French class is making me want to hurt things. I can't speak French! It makes it kind of restrictive if I can't speak English!

Today, though, my Chinese teacher arranged for this school group from China to come, and we took them around to our classes. It was pretty fun. Nice girl. Way better English than my Chinese, that's for sure.

Helped a little with the Art Auction after school. Ironed. I like ironing. It puts by OCD-like need for things to be flat and unwrinkled to practical use.

Tonight I'm seeing GoF. W00t. I'm excited. I'm not very movie-centric, but it should be fun. I'll miss Remus though. Dearly.

Tomorrow is Michigan/Ohio State and the Art Auction.

This debate thing? Amazing. Awesome. I love it. These two just completely wowed me, I love them both, Alan Alda is the funniest fake republican ever. Also, the liberal speech? Wow. Everyone should say this.

Only thing - the lines got blurred with reality and fiction, because MY Jed Bartlet wouldn't let all those stats and enron and such go on like the real ones do.

Yesterday, I went to Harvard Square with the people - Yasmin, Masha, Linda, Justine, Iris was there too. Twas most interesting, yes. But we saw a movie (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) which I found amusing.

Then, I went to see the play, which was lovely, of course. Everyone did a good job.
latara: (more for me)
I have this overwhelming desire to go read all my Sailor Moon manga.

Damn college aps, I hate you for trying to make me all responsible like.

Yesterday was a good day. I went to Harvard Square with Sara and Jacob. I bought a skirt. I rarely buy clothes of my own accord.

I did a lot of random walking around. I think that the Harvard campus is designed so that only people who can get into Harvard have the ability to navigate it. Are all campuses that confusing? I hope not. I just kept going around in circles and circles and ending up at Hong Kong (the restaurant, not the city. That would be really confusing). Er, yeah.

Then I went to Linda's and watched Dial M for Murder and Psycho instead of going to the Halloween dance. I had been planning to take a shower when I got home. Yeah, that didn't happen.

blah blah

I was too fucking dead last night to post, but now I'm slightly more alive except less with the breathing. I'm blaming this on books. More later.

So, school is whatever. I ditched my french class so I could escape the pep rally. Well, more like I told her I needed to go to my locker then I bolted. Yeah, I'm a horrible person. Whatever. Pep rallies suck ass.

Oh, and in school Marie had to dress up like a superhero and she had blue gloves so I was all, "TWO BY TWO HANDS OF BLUE"

Anyway, so then Sara's dad took us to fresh pond, where we waiting for Jacob to bring us Anna's, and then he did.

ZO-M-G let's have reactions now

It was AWESOME. Serenity spoilers )

Yeah, then I went off to Kenmore. It was fucking insanely crowded on the stupid ass Green Line, of course. Some big event was going on or something, wot wot. Yes, I know, that was my sarcasm voice. Anyway, so yeah, I managed to find the bookstore, which was way easier than I had intended. But I stood in line for two hours, and I met Bill Simmons, and it was AWESOME. Like seriously. The waiting wasn't so bad because we bought the books before we go into the LINE OF DOOM, so I read a bunch of it. It was dusty and made my allergies act up. Me and the guy behind me, who was on his cellphone THE WHOLE WAIT.

But anyway, then I got up there, after a depressing ten minutes filing through the college guide section. I mentioned I love the 90s because it amused me to do so, he said the producers had a conspiracy to make him look bad, and how didn't he look better in person (he was right, they make his head look weirdly large).

Anyway, then I got kidnapped by hillfolk never to be seen again. It was the best day ever.
latara: (jenny was a friend of mine)
I'm in a giving mood today. Ani DiFranco - Little Plastic Castle

It's fun, it makes me all kinds of happy.

So today. I felt like a whole lot of crap. It was pretty awful. I inhaled way to much ibuprofen for ones own good. I had to buy thermacare at target just to make it through staples. But yeah, I went school shopping. I already bought a bunch of clothes, so this time I just bought a Yellow Submarine shirt, because dude, Yellow Submarine and it was eight bucks. It needed to be mine. And I also bought a pillow, one of those memory foam things except not Dan Marino. Soooooo comfy. Then at staples I bought notebooks liek whoa. Yeah, guess what, paper? Heavy. I hate school. Anyway, that was fun because school supplies. At Target they had some but it was mobbed with children and very cleaned out. Besides, I got some kickass notebookage for 74 cents each.

Then I went home, and if you observed my away message in this time, you would have seen Bridget saying "MATH DOESN'T MAKE ME RANDY". This was the case. Because I was doing the stupid math packet and GOD I HATE MATH. SO BORING.

So then I was going to go home and sleep, but Sara had a cake for me. Which she brought to Jacob's house and then I didn't have a ride because my mom wanted me to stay home but then they came and got me. And we watched Mean Girls, because yeah, it's Mean Girls and Lilly is yay. Yes she's Lilly shut up. But yeah, that was pretty hilarious. I mean, I had heard, but I don't believe people.
latara: (chess)
Haha, Tom surfing the internet for pr0n. Ah, thank you Boston Herald, the news we really need to know.

Let us begin yesterday.

So yesterday Jacob had a party. It was much fun, there was dressing up muchly. I had a big long string of pearls and a slinky dress. I'll have pictures at some point. I think. Jacob has a camera. It would be unfortunate if the only picture of me was the one where I was trying to make a mocking self lj icon picture (you know the ones, the I'm holding the camera away from my face an posing) and end up just doing a really awesome Sadako impression.

Anyway, we had a murder mystery. I did not do it, but I almost did like 5 times. Seriously, I'm the worst murderer EVER. Like, you think a DA could manage to get someone offed. But no, it was the whore. SO basically, I win (2 for 2) at picking up solutions writers pull out of their ass.

Today...

First I got up TOO FUCKING EARLY to go get my senior pictures taken. They probably look like crap.

Then I stopped at the Library to get the rest of my summer reading books. Hello, Star Island, hello, summer reading.

After that I was calling Yasmin to try and plan for tomorrow, which ended up being, "How about we just go out today?" So we did. We went to see Wedding Crashers, which totally amused me in spite of myself. Except when it got all mushy. Yeah. But I love whoever that is who played Vince Vaughn's girl, and embarrasingly I recognized her from someone who used her to be the PB for Ginny awhile back on Redo. Yasmin mocked me for this. But then we stopped in Harvard Square for a bit, and you know, shoppified.

Whee fun two days.

I renewed my paid account. Complete with faaaancy new 100 userpics. Let me do the belated 100 userpic dance.

Tom Brady is fucking gorgeous. Also, biggest dork ever. Goat, I mean really.

Whee~!

Today I went with Linda and her brother to see Charlie. It was lovely. Johnny Depp never fails at any role. That said, the whole concept still freaks me out. The Gene Wilder one creeped me out hardcore back in Chenex.

So today I saw a documentary about penguins. Tonight most like, but the rest of the day I spent mostly fooling around with icons and going to the bank, so not all that interesting. But the movie about penguins was cuuute. And really REALLY depressing.

ANYWAY, APPARENTLY YASMIN'S MOM WENT DOWN AND THUMBED THROUGH THE HBPS BECAUSE CHARLESBANK HAS THEM AND TWOSEdsiiuIOUFEOFUISFODSIDFSDFSD. YEAH, but she doesn't know anything, because she hasn't read any of them, and doesn't understand.

I like All-Star Games that involve Terry Francona and Detroit.

I got tagged on the who I'd do meeeme but these kinds of things take time to think about, you know....

So I had a coooool day today.

I went to see Batman with my mom, and it was awwwwwesome. Yeah. Not much to say other than the fact that a) awwwwwesome b) preeeeeetty c) IMAX pwns. Especially Jordan's because most comfortable movie seats ever.

Duncan incest jokes never get old. Ever.

Anyways, then we go to Target, because I have a gift certificate (I ended up buying a prepaid itunes card), but turns out my mom was actually thinking of buying us cellphones. So thus, cellphones bought, I have a cellphone, yayness. It will be LOTS OF YAY with a cellphone, yes, yes.

It rings with the super mario bros theme song. Because that amuses me so. Besides, the default ringers suck.

Sooo

Today I loafed around a bit at home and then went to Linda's and watched Fight Club. Whoa. Lots of coolness, and makes me happy that the one Pixies song I have is Where is My Mind.

I didn't agree with all the philosophizing laid out, but I also don't think it was all there to be agreed with. Also, it was way Generation X and way male. But I still got it, because it explained it all in some weird way. Like, even if I didn't know where they were coming from personally, I felt like I could.

But yeah, then we ate Linda's food, which is yay because Chinese! And then we talked about random things as we always do. It was fun, we stayed all late like.

Oh, I <3 Faith so. She's in like two seconds of Homecoming and yet her awesomeness pervades.
latara: (Sun Full of Grace)
Lost 20 minutes wheee.

Had yet another day off today. It was lovely. Went with friends to see Constantine. It was alright, nowhere near as bad as I expected. Keanu, however, cannot. act. for. shit.

I love Wednesdays. Wednesdays are good days.

(Also, spring training games start this week. Awesomeness! I'm lame enough to watch Spring training games)

Eh.

So I'm left out of the whole Valentine's thing. I'm not dating and not bitter. Happy V-day to those that are either though.

It's my sister's birthday though (And, on a completely unrelated note, Drew Bledsoe's, I hear).

Watched Eternal Sunshine in Philosophy. That would be my second time. And may I say, once again, squee!

Oh, and I've decided, that since this is my junior year, this is my season two. So I'm waiting for the love spell gone awry.

(This hockey thing is very sad. It's like all the highlights we are missing. It makes me sad, and I don't even watch hockey)
latara: (Default)
Illness sucks.

Saw Troy yesterday. It was... innacurate. I mean, poor Clytemnestra. She was supposed to be the one who got to kill the bastard. Well, her and Aegisthos. But yeah. And Menaleus. Not supposed to be dead. Or that idiotic. I mean, I felt so sorry for him in the Odyssey. And Paris was supposed to die! So disappointing. The nod to Aenas was fun though. It's almost like they might have read the book at some point.

But PRETTY! I mean, damn pretty! Sooooooo pretty.

But the cousins thing, are they really trying to pull that on me again? C'mon, don't even try.

But anything I could say was said funnier by Cleolinda so yeah, go read.
